Factories
Farleigh, Marian, Pleystowe and Racecourse sugar mills process the district's cane, on a round-the-clock basis, to produce raw sugar, molasses, bagasse (fibrous residue) and mud (insoluble solids). With a combined crushing capacity of 2,200 tonnes cane per hour, the crop can be processed in about 18 weeks.
